The mountains are our winter playground. The irresistible lure of the snow covered peaks attracts millions of skiers and snowboarders each winter. This DVD explores and examines the dangers lurking in the mountains. Avalanches claim hundreds of lives each winter across the world's vast mountain ranges. Many of these lives are lost through a lack of understanding of mountains and their awesome power.
Part One of the Avalanche & Off-Piste Awareness series aims to educate snowsports enthusiasts about how to enjoy the thrill of the mountains in winter whilst at the same time remaining aware of their dangers and how to avoid them. Safety equipment, etiquette, and search and rescue are all elements investigated by presenter Matt Chilton and respected avalanche guru Henry Schniewind from HAT (Henry's Avalanche Talk).
Filmed on location in the French Alps , 'Avalanche and Off-Piste Awareness Part 1: When the Mountain Bites Back' is packed with sensational avalanche footage and big mountain action. it's a great combination of the power of nature and expert knowledge.
